Hey Oscar

Just some of my favourite looks from the rtw Oscar de la Renta collection. I love the youthful air that came through in the full-skirted silhouettes and the baby pinks and powder blues. This has to be one of my favourite collections so far :)

Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Ready-to-Wear

With Paris Fashion Week well underway, and all the big-name designers rocking the catwalk, I decided that it would be ignorant for me NOT to post at least one show from it so far, and what better show than the one and only Chanel Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.
This season, Karl Lagerfeld went crazy for jumpsuits in a variety of fits, with statement pockets. The show had an apocalyptic feel to it as well as the collection, and was mainly produced from a dark colour palette (blacks, greys, whites and reds). The dresses were generally maxi length and produced from sensual fabrics like lace and tulle. We saw a train of long capes and boxy jackets, and even the most feminine pieces were given edge with applique and leather panels. Key looks and accessories included the quilted back jumpsuit, midi keels, small clutch bags, lace gloves, chains and leather handbags. This collection is targeted at women who still want that classical elegant look but with that rock-chic and tailored edge.

I absolutely adored every single outfit, but I restrained myself (unlike my previous post) and chose my absolute favourite outfits. Enjoy!

What was your opinion on this season's Chanel collection? Are you a fan of the dark edge it harbours, or are you still a die-hard fan for the more classical, feminine look they've featured for a while?
More updates coming soon ladies, YSL and Valentino for sure, and maybe Balmain? Let me know what shows you'd like to see and I'll do my best to cover them all!

BCBG Max Azria and Ports 1961

Yes, I know, New York Fashion Week seems forever ago, what with Paris Fashion Week well underway, but I just had to blog about these two collections which I absolutely fell in love with this year.

This Spring, BCBG Max Azria was all about lightweight, airy and ethereal designs. There was a parade of sheer materials and asymmetrical silhouettes, proving that BCBG women are ones of femininity and strength, as shows by severe ponytails and the natural faces worn by each model. The show transitioned from virginal white to daring black, and focuses on form and shape with a hint of decoration.

This season, Ports 1961 made it look fun and easy, putting on a show full of pretty daywear and cocktail pieces inspired by a trip to Tunisia. "The sky was so blue and the sand was so gold. I wanted to create an urban interpretation of someone who's dreaming of the desert," Cibani says, and with a collection chockablock full of tawny golds, ivories, vibrant, shimmering colours and perfect, flowing silhouettes tells us that she did just that, and a wonderful job too.

I love both of these labels, probably because they both use beautiful colours and materials and that BCBG is more casual and relaxed while Ports 1961 has more of an evening edge to it, so if I had to choose two labels off the catwalk to be my permanent wardrobe, I'm pretty sure it would be these two!

Are you more of a casual or evening dresser? Who was your favourite designer this New York Fashion Week, and what was your absolute favourite show?
