Making A Statement

We're all familiar with statement necklaces, bracelets and even rings, but the new flavour of the month is statement earrings. As painful and heavy as they sound, these babies made a huge comeback in recent collections. Marni’s Consuelo Castiglioni led the way, making door knocker-sized baubles and and modern, colourful hoops a big part of her story this season, and on her heels were well-known designers Oscar de la Renta, Emilio Pucci, Dolce & Gabanna and Missoni. So get your man-repeller on and steal some inspiration from these wild, wacky and totally fun looks!

F is for Flare

As the start of Winter rapidly approaches, I have discovered I have come to a loss - I have NO winter clothes. Many of my friends may argue, as their idea of a winter wardrobe is a few T-shirts and jeans, but I'm one for freaking out and overbuying for just about EVERY season.

So today I, being the cool person I am, searched high and low for new and improved winter trends, and was surprised and unsurprised to find that the flare pants have come back full throttle. Now I have not been living under a rock, I assure you, but I was shocked to find that they're just about everywhere - Paris, New York, Milan and all over Europe outside, inside and on the fashion shows.

I for one am a huge fan of reawakening once coveted styles, so it was quite a happy surprise, because adding a bit of flare can make any outfit look totally retro and cool. The simplest outfit can be boosted with the right pair of flare pants and that gorgeous pair of heels/ankle boots, which means little effort = big impact, which is good news for just about everyone!

What are your thoughts on the once-unanimously loved 70s style that's back in business? Are we ready to jump into them or sticking to our much loved skinny leg?
