Trend Report: Swinging Sixties

As fashion month progressed into the fashion-forward countries of London and Milan, a different yet distinct sixties trend began to rear its beautiful head, T-strap pumps, clean cuts and all. Jil Sander, Balenciaga, Burberry Prorsum and Bottega Veneta all released their best recreations of the trend, sending their models down the runway in old-style floral prints, white stockings, bouffant hairdos and cocoon-y silhouettes.

I've done a bit of neurotic searching and have brought it down to some of my favourite looks from this fabulous trend that I admit I am crushing on hard right now. Take a look, let me know what you think and see you all tomorrow!

Inspiration: Catherine Baba

As I was searching through my computer, bookmarks and all (as you do), I came across a little page that I'd almost entirely forgotten about: and that my dear friends was catherinababa.com. Catherine was one of my very first fashion inspirations, back in a time where I was a mere 11 and just starting to become interested in the glistening fashion world.

For those of you who are not familiar, Catherina Baba is a well-known stylist and one of the most fashionable women in Paris. Born in Australia, she moved to Paris in 1996, the year that I was born (it was sooo meant to be!). Her famed style consists of a mix of 20s and 30s chic which characterises her elegant look, a certain Hollywood glamour, a sophisticated femininity, and a preference for rich fabrics, fur, big sunglasses, turbans and over-sized jewellery.

Okay so it doesn't sound like everyone's cup of tea, but for me it's not the clothes themselves, but the way she wears things, the way she carries herself and her whole attitude and being which is rare in the name of style. For me this truly defines everlasting and true style, not just fashion fads that can become something we wish we could forget (ugg boots? More like ugh boots).

There's actually not much known about Catherine as a person, with no Wikipedia page or bio, but what Google did have hidden in its drawers were some fabulous photos of Catherine in her very best strutting the streets of Paris for all to see. Check out some of my favourites and leave a comment below :)

Making A Statement

We're all familiar with statement necklaces, bracelets and even rings, but the new flavour of the month is statement earrings. As painful and heavy as they sound, these babies made a huge comeback in recent collections. Marni’s Consuelo Castiglioni led the way, making door knocker-sized baubles and and modern, colourful hoops a big part of her story this season, and on her heels were well-known designers Oscar de la Renta, Emilio Pucci, Dolce & Gabanna and Missoni. So get your man-repeller on and steal some inspiration from these wild, wacky and totally fun looks!

So the question is, will you be giving your ears a lift with a pair of statement earrings this season? Let me know below, and see you all tomorrow!
