SO I'm thinking that for Christmas I should treat myself to a proper camera. I already have a digital one, but I just hate the unnaturalness of night photos on it! Any suggestions?
I totally agree with Kimberly. I also plan on getting a new camera for Christmas. I have a kodak digital cam *blah* but I'm just now getting into photography because of my blog. good luck!!
Hi :) I recently switched from my SONY DSLR to a Canon 7D, mainly because of its ability to pick up light in lowlight (I prefer not to use a flash). It's ISO goes up quite high without getting too grainy. Of course, depending on your budget, the Canon 5d Mark ii would mean that you would never need a flash in low light again.
However at the end of the day, it always comes down to the lenses you have. So I would suggest purchasing a decent body of whatever fits into the budget you are willing to spend. And then get a 50mm f/1.8 lens (with such a large aperture, it will let light in at night) which for canon and nikon are only around $150 and well worth the investment - this lens taught me how to take photos.
i think its between a canon and a nikon then from there it really depends what budget your own

I love Nikons. But which one to choose really depends on how much money you are ready to spend.
