Sophisticated '70s Glamour

With spring and summer just around the corner for all you lucky people who live in the Northern Hemisphere (unlike me), there are SO many new exciting and amazing styles that are being brought in - some old and some new, and one of the most celebrated styles is 70s glamour. There are two main aesthetics: '70s bohemian and '70s sophisticated glamour. When it comes to the latter, think dresses that fall like shimmering water by night and high waisted pants with elegant blouses by day.

By Day...

There are so many fun and creative ways that you can create your perfect day look in this particular category of style, but from everything I found, this was by far my favourite outfit.

By Night...

Dresses are naturally gorgeous little things, but in 70s glam the dresses become that much more amazing. Of course, it's not always easy to find a dress such as this for an affordable price (and if you have, please tell me where to find one, because I have been extremely unsuccessful at the moment), so sheer jumpsuits have been added to many collections.

Since it's as easy to find a sheer reasonably priced dress as it is to find a bargain in Chanel, I thought the jumpsuit look would serve the same purpose, and it can also be worn in a lot of different ways, so if you don't have a jumpsuit, it would be a great idea to invest in at least one before Summer (I have about 5, I love them so much!)

Accessories are key when it comes to creating a '70s look. Some things to keep in mind:
The right handbag completes a look. Try for smart, high quality bags like a leather satchel for day, and a small bag with a long strap for night.
Big, statement leather belts slung over mini skirts or maxi dresses add impact and fair to a seventies-inspired outfit.
A pair of on-trend thigh high boots are probably already be in your wardrobe by now - pair them with hot pants or a skirt for a decidedly sexed-up yet sophisticated '70s look.
Wear lots of jewellery - but keep it a little cleaner than for a boho look. Try lots of rings with bold stones, neat piles of bangles, and long pendant necklaces and strings of beads.
Look to complimentary hairstyles like a sleek longer bob, masses of bouncy curls, or long, flowing hair.
If you want to try the 70s style this Summer, make sure to find a look that suits you; the above were only examples, don't base your 70s style solely on these ideas. It's all about having fun and mixing it up, so whatever your style, follow it!
